What to Watch for the Week of November 16, 2009

First Priority: SAFETY

Night Work
APS will be working from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. all week in front of Exposures Gallery. Traffic will be restricted to one lane in this area, directed by flaggers.

It may be necessary for the contractor to work at night on the wall work near Canyon Drive. If this occurs, traffic will be restricted to one lane, directed by flaggers.

Saturday Work
The contractor will be working Saturdays through the end of the year except for holiday weekends.

Wall Work between Morgan Wash and Canyon Drive
Work progresses on both the uphill and downhill footings in preparation for building the retaining walls.

Oak Creek Bridge
The concrete deck was successfully poured last Tuesday on the bridge.

Next steps include building the parapet wall along the southern edge of the new bridge, stabilizing the bridge in preparation for removal of the old bridge, and continuing to build the new bridge.

Median Curb and Gutter
The median curb and gutter north of Chapel, and in the Oak Creek Cliffs to Juniper Trail area, will be completed this month.

ADOT and Southwest Asphalt Paving appreciate your continued cooperation as these improvements are made to SR 179.
   

Please note: Changes to construction plans can happen frequently due to weather, equipment and personnel availability. We try to anticipate construction activities a week in advance but changes may occur. Intermittent lane closures, with short delays, may not always be known in advance.
