Welcome to the State Route (SR) 179 Project Weekly Construction Update - your electronic connection to the SR 179 Project with the most current information on construction plans and activities.

What to Watch for the Week of December 14, 2009

First Priority: SAFETY

Schnebly Hill/Oak Creek Bridge
This week, all traffic will be transitioned onto the south portion of the new bridge. Restrictions or delays are not anticipated, as drivers should have a smooth transition to the new bridge.

Schnebly Hill southbound traffic will have a temporary stop sign at this intersection. Drivers should proceed when clear.

The old bridge will be removed the last week of December.

Traffic Shift Near Hillside
Traffic was split near Hillside to build the median and work on utilities.

Bowstring to Morgan Wash
Traffic remains shifted to the east side of the road to allow construction of a storm drain, catch basins, and curb and gutter along the west side of the roadway.

Saturday Daytime Work
The contractor will be working Saturdays during the day through the end of the year. Sunday work may be necessary.

ADOT and Southwest Asphalt Paving appreciate your continued cooperation as these improvements are made to SR 179.

Please note: Changes to construction plans can happen frequently due to weather, equipment and personnel availability. We try to anticipate construction activities a week in advance but changes may occur. Intermittent lane closures, with short delays, may not always be known in advance.

For a complete listing of freeway and highway restrictions across Arizona visit ADOT's Travel Information Site at www.az511.com or call 5-1-1.
