Cortez Roundabout Completion Week of January 28

Subject to weather, crews will be working on the second half of the Cortez roundabout this week.  Cortez road on the west side of SR 179 is partially reopened.  When the Cortez roundabout is functional, the center raised median between Jack's Canyon and Cortez can be completed. Motorists will begin using the roundabouts for u-turns to access destinations that are across the median.

Bell Rock Boulevard Closure Scheduled for February 4

Bell Rock Blvd will be closed on the west side of SR 179 starting February 4 for construction of the roundabout at that intersection. Verde Valley School Road will be used as a detour route.

Work Likely to Begin on Project 2 Second Week in February

ADOT and the contractor are working to obtain final regulatory approvals prior to starting work on Project 2.  Currently, the contractor hopes to begin working the second week in February.  Stay tuned for more details.

Cooperation Continues for Protection of Trees in Project 2

ADOT has scheduled an on-site meeting with representatives of the Sierra Club and Sedona Tree Coalition to prepare for the work in the area of  the Oak Creek bridge.  This is a further demonstration of ADOT’s commitment to work closely with the Sedona community throughout construction.

Please note: Changes to construction plans can happen frequently due to weather, equipment availability and personnel issues. We try to anticipate construction activities a week in advance but changes may occur. Intermittent lane closures, with short delays, may not always be known in advance.
