Roundabout Safety Statistics

Numerous US and international studies document that safety can be significantly improved over other types of intersections. When crashes do occur, they tend to be at much lower speeds with angled collisions since all traffic circulates in the same direction, rather than higher speed 90 degree crashes associated with signalized intersections. Roundabouts typically have 75 percent fewer conflict points for traffic circulating in the same direction.
